Paul VI's Captain Chris Moehler commits to Cal U of PA for soccer

11 May, 2009

Paul VI High School men’s soccer captain Chris Moehler has committed to play soccer at the California University of Pennsylvania in California, PA.

Cal U Head Coach Dennis Laskey:

“We are very much looking forward to having Chris become a member of the Cal U soccer program.  He is an excellent student with great leadership qualities. Chris has a great mind for the game and the passion and technical ability to become an impact player. We believe that the progress he has made throughout his high school career will continue at the collegiate level.”

Moehler, who led PVI with 14 goals and 16 assists his senior season was a driving force as the Panthers advanced to the Final 4 in both the WCAC as well as the Virginia State Tournament.  For his achievements Chris was recognized as First Team All State, Third Team All WCAC and given the Paul VI “Panther” Award.

“Chris is a tremendous young man, his attitude and work rate were a major reason for our success this season.  He is a skillful, creative midfielder who has the ability to strongly impact games.  Although we will miss him greatly, I am thrilled to see him moving on to a very good college program.” PVI Head Coach, Matt Leiva.

The CUP Men’s Soccer Program is a member of NCAA Division II. The “Vulcans” compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.  In 2008 they were crowned PSAC Champions which earned them an appearance in the NCAA National Tournament.

The Paul VI Panthers will begin preseason in mid-August as their new squad begins to form.  The new team will have a lot to live up to in the Fall of 2009.
