Real Maryland names under-15 Super Y League head coach
3 Feb, 2009Real Maryland F.C. announced that Benjamin Ossei-Akoannor will be the new Head Coach for the Monarch’s New U15 Super Y League Team.
“We are excited to bring Ben onboard because we believe that he shares the same passion for the game and the same love of teaching it to others,” said General Manager David Noyes. Ben was born in Ghana, West Africa and played competitive soccer in several youth soccer clubs in Ghana, Washington DC and Maryland; He has over 25 years of playing experience.
Ben played four years of collegiate soccer for York College in Pennsylvania where he led his team for most goals scored over a three-year span. Because of his outstanding collegiate performance, Ben was named to the CAC All-Conference First Team in all fours years of play. Prior to playing in the York College Soccer Program, Ben was named to the All-Conference First Team in High School three times as well.
After graduation, Ben decided to stay with his Alma Mater’s Soccer Program to become the Assistant Coach for the squad. His duties for the Athletic Department at York College expanded to where he also coached the York College Women’s Soccer Program for two years at the club level. Ben’s college coaching experience continued when he made his move from Pennsylvania to the DC Metro Area where he became the Assistant Coach for the Prince George’s Community College Men’s Soccer Program. Since leaving the PGCC’s Soccer Program, he has since joined the Calverton Soccer Club where he is the coach of the Mayhem Soccer Team. On the heels of a very successful Super Y League tryout in January, the club expects another strong turnout for this Saturday’s tryout on February 7th. The Super Y League tryout this Saturday will be for the U14, U15 and U16 Super Y League Teams.
