Radford's Roan selected to Soccer Buzz All-Region Third Team

Junior Caitlyn Roan (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) added another accolade to her soccer resume as she was named to the Soccer Buzz All-Region Third Team. She becomes the just the third Highlander and the first since 1998 to earn this distinction.

“Caitlyn is a true team player,” commented head coach Ben Sohrabi. “She was very unselfish to move to the back after being a starting midfielder for us the past two year. Her keeping an open mind about the transition led to her having a great season.”
 
On Wednesday, Roan was tabbed a first-team all-state selection. The Big South Tournament MVP and a first-team defender, was the anchor of Radford’s defense that recorded a conference-best seven shutouts and 0.94 goals against average (67th in the NCAA). Radford only allowed two goals in a match four times this season and recorded its best goals against average (0.94) since 1997.

Roan, a Soccer American Team of the Week honoree, joins Kelly Moran (1997) and Amanda Lebo (1998) as the only Highlanders to earn Soccer Buzz all-region recognition.
