Salisbury's Sterling selected to the NSCAA All-American Third Team

15 Dec, 2008

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its 2008 NCAA Division III All-American teams and Salisbury University junior midfielder Kyle Sterling was named to the third team. Sterling's honor marks the 10th All-American honor in the history of the men's soccer program and the first since 2005 (Bill Wellington).

This is the first All-American award in Sterling's three-year career. The Salisbury, Md., product has already been named to the NSCAA All-South Region first team and the Capital Athletic Conference first team this season. Sterling tallied 10 goals, 25 points and had three game-winning goals for SU in ‘08. The midfielder led the CAC in shots (78) and shots per game (3.71). Sterling tied for third in the conference in game-winning goals. In his three-year career at SU, Sterling has notched 31 goals, 20 assists, 82 points and 11 game-winning goals.

Sterling was one of four players from the CAC to be named as an NSCAA All-American. York (Pa.) College had three players named in forward Jon Ports (first team), midfielder Chris Ports (second team), and defender Evan Scheffey (third team).
