W&M's Abby Lauer named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Season

13 Nov, 2008

Senior back Abby Lauer (Oak Hill, Va.) earned her first-ever selection to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Season as a third-team defender. Lauer has also been lauded by the Colonial Athletic Association as a first-team all-conference selection and as the league's co-Defender of the Year, as well as being selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III first-team.

Lauer was the only Tribe player to stay on the field for the entire season, from first whistle in August all the way through the CAA semifinal last Friday against Hofstra. She scored her second career goal on a free kick against Brigham Young, and has contributed a team- and career-high seven assists this season, bringing her four-year total to 18 assists. Lauer is also the only Tribe soccer player, male or female, to have started every game over the past four seasons.

Lauer is the second W&M player to earn Team of the Season honors from Top Drawer Soccer, joining classmate Claire Zimmeck (Fairfax, Va.), a first-team selection last year and a second-team honoree in 2006.
