US Club Soccer National Cup and Showcase returning to VA Beach

The 2009 National Cup VIII Finals and National Collegiate Showcase will return to Virginia Beach, Va., for the second consecutive year.

In a change from last year, the boys' and girls' events will be held on different dates to better accommodate the large number of participating teams. The boys' National Cup VIII Finals and National Collegiate Showcase will take place July 25-28, while the girls' events are scheduled for July 31-Aug. 3.

Games will be played at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex and the adjacent Princess Anne Athletic Complex. Located just one mile apart, the Hampton Road Soccer Complex features 19 Tifway Bermuda grass fields, and the Princess Anne Athletic Complex includes seven natural grass fields, two of which are lighted.

With the National Collegiate Showcase taking place alongside the National Cup VIII Finals, the top soccer talent in the country will be in Virginia Beach. This provides college coaches with the rare opportunity to scout high-level U-15 through U-17 boys' and girls' players at two separate events - but at the same location. Approximately 120 college coaches registered to attend the 2008 National Cup VII Finals and National Collegiate Showcase.

Applications for the 2009 National Cup VIII Regionals as well as the National Collegiate Showcase will be available in early December.
