After scoring two goals in No. 6 Loyola's 5-nil victory at Rider, Loyola sophomore midfielder Wade McHugh was honored as MAAC Rookie of the Week. McHugh, a native of Baldwin, Md. (McDonogh), scored the eventual game-winner in Saturday's blanking of the Broncos.
Towson redshirt freshman forward Liam Maloney has been named as the recipient of the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week award. Maloney scored a goal and added an assist to give the Tigers a 3-2 victory over James Madison in the season finale on Friday.
William and Mary senior All-Americans Dani Collins and Claire Zimmeck (Fairfax, Va.) were both named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Tournament team for the first time. After wrapping up their stellar four-year VMI careers with the women's soccer program, senior co-captains Megan Strand and Celine Ziobro have been honored as a part of the 2008 Big South Conference Women's Soccer All-Tournament Team.
PSW Men's Game of the Week:
Luis Martinez scored the game-winning goal in the 103rd minute to lead the American University men’s soccer team to a 3-2 double overtime win against Bucknell on Saturday at Reeves Field. The intense game had American’s right to host the post-season tournament (and win the regular season title) and Bucknell’s playoff chances on the line.
PSW Women's Game of the Week:
Radford scored a pair of first half goals and then held off No. 1 seeded Coastal Carolina for a 2-1 victory in the title game of the 2008 Big South Women’s Soccer Championship Sunday afternoon.
