Agorsor, Hamid, Markheim in England with US U20s

4 May, 2008

Baltimore Bays and McDonough High School start Chris Agorsor has been added to the US U-20 roster for their trip to England this week. He joins Annandale’s Bill Hamid and Woodbridge’s Derek Markeim on the squad that left for England yesterday for friendlies against the reserve teams of Bolton, Manchester United, and Liverpool.

Though not named in the original travel roster, Agorsor was added after a teammate was injured in training. Agorsor and Hamid – who plays for D.C. United Academy - represent two of five total players on the U.S. squad who play exclusively in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy – a national league created last year with a primary focus on better controlling player development on a national basis to more closely resemble the U.S. Soccer-operated Bradenton Academy in Florida that has produced players such Landon Donovan, DeMarcus Beasely, and Freddy Adu. Derek Markheim left the area last year after a stellar high school and local youth club career to play professionally in France with Amiens FC in Ligue 2.
