Onyewu continues impressive 2008 with Belgian Championship

Onley Maryland's Oguchi Onyewu has won the Belgian League championship with Standard Liege. It was the first time Liege has won the championship in 25 years. Onyewu, who played for for FC Potomac as a youth, has had an outstanding 2008 so far. Besides anchoring the defense for Liege, he has scored goals in his last two US Men's games against serious opponents in Mexico and Poland. He wasn't even "supposed" to be at Liege this season either, but after being loaned out to New Castle United of the English Premier League last spring, he was not offered a contract, and returned to finish out his contract in Belgium.
