D.C. United acquire rights to RFC and UVA star Jermey Barlow

17 Mar, 2008

D.C. United announced Monday the club has acquired the playing rights to Jeremy Barlow from the Houston Dynamo in exchange for the club's natural third round selection in the 2009 MLS Supplemental Draft. Barlow is currently training with the club in an attempt to catch on with the four-time MLS Cup Champions. He was selected by the Dynamo in the fourth round (56th overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft.

A product of the D.C. United youth system and Reston FC, Barlow starred for four seasons at the University of Virginia. The 5-7, 150-pound midfielder totaled seven goals and an assist in his freshman year before being named the 2004 ACC Tournament MVP and to the all-ACC freshman team. He added two goals and nine assists during his sophomore campaign and two goals and two assists in his junior year before finishing his collegiate career with a goal and six assists last fall.
