Virginia ODP 92 boys lose in overtime to Indiana for Championship

The 2008 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program National Champions were crowned at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas on Sunday. No two teams fought as hard as the 1992 Boys Indiana and Virginia teams for the Championship. Four minutes into the game, Virginia’s Jared Windt netted the first goal, but Indiana quickly matched it with a goal from Max Odgaard a minute later. Virginia took the lead again before halftime with a goal from Dylan Bowman in the 38th minute. In the second half, a strong defensive presence from Virginia held Indiana scoreless until the 80th minute when Eriq Zavaleta pulled the teams level, forcing overtime. Zavaleta sealed his golden boot award for the weekend with the game winner for Indiana in an intense overtime.
