Winchester player John Gilkerson drafted by New York Red Bulls
26 Jan, 2008Former Handley High School standout and Winthrop University senior John Gilkerson was drafted 35th overall by the New York Red Bulls in Thursday’s Major League Soccer 2008 Supplemental Draft. Gilkerson, who was selected in the third round, was one of four players taken by the Red Bulls in Thursday’s draft. A three-time All-Big South conference performer, he scored three goals and had four assists during his career as a defender at Winthrop.
