Girls' Disney Showcase: A look back at how other local teams fared

Three Virginia teams outside the showcase divisions finished as champions of their respective divisions at last week's Disney's Girls Soccer Showcase in Orlando, Fla.

Richmond Kickers YSC Elite swept all four of its games in taking the Girls U-16 Predator White division title. The Kickers outscored their opponents 14-4, defeating SWISA Crush of Indiana 3-0, Solar Chelsea 96 of Texas 5-2, Weston FC 95 Premier White of Florida 2-1 and, in the final, beating FC United Select of Illinois 3-1.

Herndon YA Chaos, after a 1-1 tie against Michigan Wolves-Hawks 97 Black in its opening group match, defeated Bay United SC 96/97 Sharks of Florida 2-0 and beat Cobb FC 97 Lady Chiefs Premier of Georgia 3-2 to reach the final. In the decisive match, Herndon YA Chaos held off Tampa Bay United Premier 96 of Florida 3-1.

In the Girls U-17 Copa Red division, CYA Phoenix of Chantilly defeated Albertson SC Fury 94 Premier of New York 1-0 in the final after finishing 2-0-1 in its group. CYA Phoenix beat WC St. Louis Academy of Missouri 2-1 and Mass Premier Soccer Renegades of Massachusetts 4-2 before tying Triangle FC 94 Navy of North Carolina 2-2 to reach the final.

FC Frederick 94, meanwhile, was a consolation winner, defeating Pitt Greenville SA 94 Stars of North Carolina 2-0 in the Girls U-17 Predator White division after finishing 2-1-0 in group action.

In other action:

• McLean MPS 96 Force Green, after finishing 1-0-2 in group play, won its consolation match 2-0 against NC Soccer Fusion 96 Elite of North Carolina in the Girls U-15 Copa Black division.
• In the Girls U-16 Predator Red division, McLean MPS Fury Green 95 lost in the finals to Burlington YSC Tornados of Canada 1-0 after finishing 2-0-1 in its group.
• Neither FC Virginia Heat (0-1-2) nor Premier Eagles of Maryland (1-2-0) made it out of group play in the Girls U-16 Predator Black division.
• Baltimore Bays Cheslea 96 finished 1-2-0 in group play of the Girls U-16 Predator Gray division, and Baltimore Bays Chelsea 94-95 went 1-1-1 in group play of the Girls U-17 Copa White division.
• Beach FC Red lost all three matches in group play of the Girls U-16 Predator White division.
