Richmond Kickers U13 boys, U14 girls reach Super Y-League North American Finals

The Richmond Kickers\' U13 Boys Elite and the U14 Girls Elite have qualified for the 2010 Super Y-League North American Finals in Tampa, FL.  Both Kickers teams qualified in style with many excellent performances.

The U13 Boys compiled an undefeated season with a record of eight wins and two ties, scoring 32 goals en route to first place in the South Atlantic Division. The U14 Girls narrowly missed out on first place, losing out to reigning national champions Northern Virginia Majestics. A record of eight wins, one tie, one loss, and 35 goals scored still allowed the girls to secure a championship berth.  Head Coaches Rob Ukrop and Ihor Dotsenko guided their respective team\'s through a memorable summer season.
 
The 12th Annual Super Y-League North American Finals will feature 140 boys and girls teams and nearly 3,000 players from throughout the U.S. and Canada competing for the right to be called national champions in the U-13 through U-17 age groups.  Teams qualify from their respective regions (Mid Atlantic, Midwest, New England, Pacific Northwest, South Atlantic and Southeast) and will compete for national titles November 19-23 at Tampa’s Ed Radice Soccer Complex and the Land O’ Lakes Recreation Center in Pasco County.
 
Founded in 1999, the Super Y-League is a professionalized system serving as one of the first steps in developing youth soccer players in North America.  Affiliated with U.S. Soccer, the league is designed for talented youth players striving for professional careers. The most talented boys and girls participating in the Super Y-League are chosen for the SYL Olympic Development Program Camps, from which the top players are often selected for National Team programs.
