US Youth Soccer crowns final seven US Youth Soccer National Champions for 2010

Under-16 Boys: Slammers FC (CA-S)

The remaining 2010 US Youth Soccer National Champions were crowned today at Overland Park Soccer Complex, in Overland Park, Kan., where the country\'s the top teams in the Under-16 through Under-18 Boys and Girls and Under-19 Girls age groups met to conclude the final step of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series. After this week\'s three days of preliminary play, teams competed today for their respective national title.

US Youth Soccer National Championship Final Results

Under-16 Girls
Solar 94 Red (N-TX) 1, McLean MPS Strikers (VA) 0
Solar SC of North Texas claimed its second national championship title today. In 2008, the Under-19 Boys Solar squad won the James P. McGuire Cup. Today in the Under-16 Girls, Solar 94 Red created many offensive opportunities, but the McLean MPS Strikers (VA) defense held strong. Lauren Heller scored in the 33rd minute putting Solar up 1-0. Solar\'s lone goal proved to be the game winner as Solar finished 1-0 over McLean.

Under-16 Boys
Slammers FC (CA-S) 1, RSL Florida 93 (FL) 0
Real Salt Lake Florida 93 and Slammers FC (CA-S) entered today\'s match seeking to claim their first national titles for their respective clubs. Slammers FC have won three girls titles (2002, 2003 and 2005). Today the Under-16 Boys Slammers faced RSL Florida 93 for the Larry Harmon Cup. RSL was undefeated for the week and the two teams battled in the first half only to end in a scoreless tie. Early in the second half, midfielder Kyle Chin broke through to put the Slammers on the board. Chin\'s goal was enough for the Slammers to win the third national title of the tournament for California South and a fourth title for Region IV.

Under-17 Boys
Alpharetta Ambush 93 Red (GA) 4, St. Louis Scott Gallagher (MO) 1
Under-17 Boys Alpharetta Ambush (GA) had a decisive victory over St. Louis Scott Gallagher (MO), 4-1. Ambush\'s Karl Chester led the Under-17 Boys goal scorers this week, tallying seven in the tournament. Today, he gave Ambush the 1-0 lead going into the half. Chester, who is committed to University of Alabama at Birmingham, scored his second of the match in the 59th. A minute later, Scott Stiffler brought St. Louis within one, but Ambush\'s Cory Plasker and Joshua Boone secured Ambush\'s championship title with goals in the 71st and 80th.

Under-17 Girls
So Cal Blues Dodge (CA-S) 1, Syosset Sting 92 (NY-E) 0
So Cal Blues Dodge earned first place in the US Youth Soccer National League this season and today earned \'The US Youth Soccer Double\' as the Under-17 Girls national champion in a 1-0 win over Syosset Sting (E-NY). Liz Agiato had a great scoring chance for Syosset in the 22nd minute only to see the hard driven ball deflect off the post. A few minutes into the second half, Lauren Bohaboy would score her second goal of the week in the 48th minute that would hold to give So Cal Blues Dodge their first national championship; third for the club.

Under-18 Boys
EastSide United FC 91 Liverpool Red (OR) 1, Shattuck-St. Mary\'s (MN) 0
Under-18 Boys EastSide United 91 Liverpool Red (OR) were up at the half of today\'s final against Minnesota\'s Shattuck St. Mary\'s . Leading goal scorer and U.S. National Team member, Mikhail Doholis blasted one past Shattuck\'s keeper in the 30th minute. In the first half, Joseph Tennyson served to Adam Glanzer off a set piece in one of Shattuck\'s best scoring chances. Glanzer flicked it past the keeper but it was called offside. EastSide adjusted their defense and the backline negated the Shattuck offensive and six shots on goal. EastSide has won four state championships and today claimed the first national championship for Oregon.

Under-18 Girls
Laguna Hills Eclipse White (CA-S) 1, Eclipse Select 91/92 (IL) 0
Defending national champion, Eclipse Select 91/92 (IL) faced Laguna Hills Eclipse White (CA-S) for the Francis Kelly Cup; a cup Laguna Hills won in 2005. Kristyn Benavidez scored in the 26th minute to give the California side the 1-0 advantage. The Illinois side would increase the pressure on the opposing defense in the second half, and the intensity grew late with six shots in the last 30 minutes. Dana Moreno, adidas Golden Glove winner, and Gabrielle Kaufman collectively managed to thwart the Illinois attack and go on to claim the national title.

Under-19 Girls
Lonestars 91 Red (TX-S) 1, Eclipse Select (IL) 1, PK 4-2
Eclipse Select (IL) entered the Under-19 Girls final with experience on both sides of a national title bout, winning at Under-15 and losing at Under-17. Today Eclipse looked to add another title and Lonestars 91 Red looked to add the first national championship for their club and first girl\'s title for a team from South Texas. The Eclipse offensive was led by Mary Kubiuk with five goals on the week to lead all scorers. Through the first half the match was tied, 1-1, with goals from Eclipse\'s Karissa Miller (12\') and Lonestar\'s Jessica Fuston (31\'). The second half concluded and overtime expired to the same result, 1-1. Eclipse\'s first kick in penalty\'s struck the post and the second would miss high. Lonestars would go on to successful attempts, winning the championship 4-2 to claim the club\'s first national championship and first girls\' title for South Texas.
