8 Jul, 2010All three Group D matches for the U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team at the upcoming 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Germany will be broadcast live on ESPN’s family of networks.
The USA’s opening match against Ghana from Rudolf-Harbig Stadium in Dresden will be broadcast live on July 14 at 12 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
The USA will face Switzerland in its second group match on July 17, also from Dresden, and that game will also be broadcast live on ESPNU at 12 p.m. ET.
The young Americans finish group play on July 21 in Bielefeld against the Korea Republic in a match that will be broadcast live at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
All 32 matches of the tournament will be available via the internet on ESPN3.com and 18 matches – half of the games -- including all four quarterfinals, the semifinals, the third-place game and final, will be broadcast either live or delayed on either ESPNU or ESPN2. The field of 16 teams was drawn into four groups of four last April, with host Germany, the USA, Brazil and Japan earning the top seeds in the draw. The top two finishers in each group will advance to the quarterfinals. Should the U.S. advance out of Group D, they will face an opponent from Group C, which consists of England, Nigeria, Mexico and Japan.
Germany, which was placed in Group A, will open the tournament on July 13 in Bochum against Costa Rica (ESPN2.com at 5:30 a.m. ET). France and Colombia join the hosts in Group A, which is the only group in the tournament that features two European teams. Group B features Brazil, Korea DPR, Sweden and New Zealand.
