Three local players selected to US Soccer under-20 training camp
29 Jun, 2010Three local players -- two from the University of Maryland and one with D.C. United\'s youth program -- were selected by U.S. U-20 Coach Thomas Rongen to participate in an upcoming training camp in San Jose, Calif.
Goalkeeper Zac MacMath (Maryland; St. Petersburg, Fla.), defender Ethan White (Maryland; Kensington, Md.), and midfielder Conor Shanosky (DC United, Sterling, Va.) will scrimmage the San Jose Earthquakes twice during the camp, set for June 27 - July 5.
The U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team will come together in San Jose from June 27-July 5, with 24 players representing the youth, college and professional ranks. Thomas Rongen’s side will scrimmage the San Jose Earthquakes twice during the camp and also play against two local clubs.
The roster includes eight players who play in Mexico, and one each in Brazil, Costa Rica and Portugal. There are also 10 players from the college ranks, including the starting goalkeepers for each of the last two FIFA U-17 World Cups in Earl Edwards (UCLA) and Zac MacMath (Maryland). Three players will join Rongen’s squad from the youth ranks, with Andrew Jean-Baptiste (Albertson), Moises Orozco (Real So Cal) and Conor Shanosky (D.C. United) each representing a different Development Academy club.
The U.S. U-20 MNT is approximately seven months away from the CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which will serve as a qualifying tournament for the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
