D.C. United calls up local product GK Andrew Quinn
2 Apr, 2010D.C. United has called up goalkeeper Andrew Quinn ahead of Saturday’s MLS home opener against the New England Revolution. The move is due to a case of \'extreme hardship\', as stipulated by MLS’ Player Rules and Regulations when a club has less than two available goalkeepers. Quinn is a first-year player who most recently featured for the Fighting Irish of the University of Notre Dame.
Quinn came on trial with the Red-and-Black during this year’s preseason tour beginning in early February. The 6’3” netminder managed 25 games played (21 starts) during his career at the University of Notre Dame, carrying a 0.99 goals against average and posting seven shutouts. Quinn is a local product, hailing from Silver Spring, Maryland and having attended DeMatha High School.
