Real Maryland U17 boys win regional futsal championship
16 Feb, 2010Over the past weekend, the Real Maryland U17 Boys - led by Jose Bibiano, Henry Lopez and Chris Maddes - claimed the Northeast Championship at the Regional Championships held in York, Pennsylvania.
On their way to playing Pittsburgh in the Championship game, the team had to beat a talented team from New England in the semifinals with a 4-3 overtime victory.
Riding the victory wave, the Monarchs then faced Pittsburgh in the Championship where they finished out the tournament with a 5-4 victory and brought home the trophy. The win at the Regional Championships now qualifies Real Maryland FC to play in the 25th U.S. Futsal National Championship to be held in Long Beach, California from July 8 - 11, 2010.
