Based on a tabulation of State Cup results in the recently concluded Virginia Youth Soccer Association State Cup Tournament, Potomac Soccer Wire has devised a simple ranking system in an attempt to “rank” the areas top clubs. To achieve the rankings, we looked at winning teams in the quarterfinal, semifinal, and final rounds – awarding 1 point for a quarterfinal win, 2 points for a semifinal win, and 3 points for a win in the final. For example, a team winning the final contributes a total of 6 points to this ranking, while a club with six teams that win in the quarter final round, but all lose in semifinals would likewise have 6 points. Obviously the ranking formula is unscientific, but at least it’s not subjective.

Curious what results would be if you use same method for Maryland clubs.
